Pottawattamie County Recycling Center Recognized in Waste Advantage Magazine

After five years of operation, the Pottawattamie County Rural Recycling Center continues to serve residents throughout the County, with goals to create even more avenues for local participation. PCPH Along with Other Health Agencies use Dating Apps to get Head Start on MPOX Prevention

PCPH along with Douglas County Health Department, Sarpy/Cass Health Department, and Three Rivers Public Health Department are teaming up with COMMANDO to launch an initiative to get a head start on prevention by warning about the risks of the disease and the need for vaccination.

Proclamation Signed Designating May as Mental Health Awareness Month

Last week the Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors signed a proclamation designating the month of May as Mental Health Awareness Month. We are very grateful to have the support of our board and The Wellbeing Partners to raise awareness about mental health.

Pottawattamie County Public Health Recognized by NACCHO for 'An Expression of Community'

Pottawattamie County’s– ‘An Expression of Community’ has been recognized with the Innovative Practice Bronze Award from the National Associations of County & City Health Officials (NACCHO). The award celebrates local health departments for developing innovative programs to meet the needs of their communities during the COVID-19 pandemic. The designation as a Bronze Innovative Practice demonstrates a high level of program innovation and reflects the collaboration, adaptability, and program resilience.

First Probable Case of Monkeypox in Pottawattamie County Confirmed

The Iowa Department of Public Health has confirmed the first probable case of monkeypox in Pottawattamie County. Pottawattamie County Public Health is working closely with IDPH to conduct contact tracing.

COVID-19 Courier Service ends 6/24/22

Pottawattamie County Public Health still offers free COVID-19 test kits available for pick up! Give us a call at 712-242-1155 and we'd be happy to run the kits out to your car. Starting June 24th, individuals will need to take completed test kits directly to a UPS drop-off location (shipping label is provided in test kits). The best way to prevent serious illness, hospitalization, and death from COVID-19 is to get vaccinated and stay up to date with booster doses.

Pottawattamie County Earns National Achievement Award for 'An Expression of Community'

Pottawattamie County's 'An Expression of Community' has been recognized with an Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties (NACo). The awards honor innovative, effective county government programs that strengthen services for residents.
